        "content": "<p>Singapore Management University (SMU) has recorded a significant\nsurge in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, becoming the\nuniversity with the largest ranking increase globally for institutions\nwith 10 or more programmes in the list. This achievement reinforces\nSingapore\u2019s position as one of the main higher education destinations\nfor Indonesian students.<\/p>\n<p>Based on UNESCO data, out of around 59,000 Indonesian students\nstudying abroad, Singapore is one of the favourite destinations.\nGeographical proximity, world-class education quality, and a competitive\ninternational environment are the main driving factors. Meanwhile, ICEF\nMonitor data shows that the number of Indonesian students in Singapore\nhas reached around 10,000 people.<\/p>\n<p>In the latest rankings, eight out of ten SMU study programmes\nexperienced a global ranking increase, reflecting even improvement\nacross various disciplines. The Business and Management Studies\nprogramme is now ranked 39th in the world, while Accounting and Finance\noccupies the 50th position worldwide, both entering the global top\n50.<\/p>\n<p>One of the most striking surges occurred in the Law programme, which\nrose 45 positions to rank 56th in the world, making it one of the most\nsignificant improvements in Singapore this year.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, four SMU programmes are now in the world\u2019s top 60, namely\nbusiness and management, accounting and finance, economics and\neconometrics, and law. In addition, SMU\u2019s social sciences and management\ngroup also recorded a significant rise, ranking 86th in the world after\njumping 89 positions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis achievement reflects the strong collaboration between faculty,\nstudents, and partners in building an institution that excels\nacademically while having real impact,\u201d said SMU President Lily\nKong.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s rankings by QS Quacquarelli Symonds analyse more than\n21,000 programmes from around 1,900 universities in 100 countries,\ncovering 55 disciplines in five main subject groups.<\/p>\n<p>SMU\u2019s ranking surge affirms the trend of increasing competitiveness\nof Asian universities on the global stage, while strengthening\nSingapore\u2019s position as an increasingly sought-after international\neducation hub, including by Indonesian students.<\/p>",
