        "content": "<p>Bank Indonesia has announced that Indonesians can now conduct\ntransactions or make payments using QRIS in South Korea. These\ntransactions can be carried out through domestic applications without\nthe need to exchange foreign currency.<\/p>\n<p>BI Governor Perry Warjiyo explained that the transactions are\nconducted directly in the local currencies of both countries, making\nthem more efficient and lower-cost for users.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe connectivity of cross-border QR payments not only facilitates\ntransactions but also strengthens SMEs, boosts tourism, and opens new\nopportunities for the business world, thereby supporting inclusive and\nsustainable economic growth,\u201d said Perry in his official statement in\nJakarta on Wednesday, 2 April 2026.<\/p>\n<p>It is known that on Wednesday (1\/4), BI and the Bank of Korea\nofficially launched the Indonesia-South Korea cross-border QR payment\nconnectivity. This initiative is also part of the Joint Vision Statement\n(JVS) between Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and South Korean\nPresident Lee Jae Myung, signed on Wednesday (1\/4) in South Korea.<\/p>\n<p>The inauguration of the cross-border QR payment connectivity was\ncarried out by BI Governor Perry Warjiyo and Senior Deputy Governor of\nthe Bank of Korea Sangdai Ryoo, marked by a ceremony held simultaneously\nin Indonesia and South Korea.<\/p>\n<p>Perry stated that this inauguration is an important step in realising\nthe shared vision of Indonesia and South Korea to build an integrated,\nefficient, and inclusive payment system as the foundation for digital\neconomic connectivity between the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Korea Chang Cheong-soo\nstated that the inauguration of the Indonesia-South Korea cross-border\nQR marks an important milestone reflecting the increasingly close\ncooperation between the two countries, particularly in strengthening the\ndigital economy and finance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGoing forward, we are committed to continuing to promote more\nstrategic collaboration to strengthen payment system integration and\nsupport closer digital economic connectivity between Korea and\nIndonesia,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>BI stated that the successful implementation of the Indonesia-South\nKorea cross-border QRIS is the result of synergy between BI, the Bank of\nKorea, the Indonesian Payment System Association (ASPI), the Korea\nFinancial Telecommunications &amp; Clearings Institute (KFTC), and\nparticipating financial institutions.
