According to Yonhap on Monday\n(23\/3\/2026), North Korea\u2019s Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported\nthat Kim was reappointed to the highest position on the State Affairs\nCommission during the first session of the Supreme People\u2019s Assembly\nheld on Sunday (22\/3). Kim Jong Un\u2019s re-election marks his third\nconsecutive term since the commission was established in 2016 as the\ncountry\u2019s supreme policy-making body. \u201cDear Comrade Kim Jong Un, please\naccept my sincere congratulations on your re-election as Chairman of\nState Affairs of the Democratic People\u2019s Republic of Korea,\u201d Putin said\nin a message posted on the Kremlin\u2019s Telegram channel. \u201cRussia highly\nvalues your personal contribution to strengthening the friendly and\nallied relations between our countries. We will certainly continue our\nclose cooperation to further develop the comprehensive strategic\npartnership between Moscow and Pyongyang. Russia and North\nKorea have deepened their relations in recent years, signing a joint\ndefence agreement in 2024. North Korea has also sent troops to support\nRussia in its war against Ukraine.
