\u201cIn such situations, it is crucial for the public to receive\ncomprehensive information about the cause of the outage and the ongoing\nrestoration process. I find PLN quite transparent in updating on the\nhandling progress until power supply gradually returns to normal,\u201d he\nstated in Jakarta on Monday.<\/p>\n
He noted that during large-scale power disruptions, the public not\nonly needs swift restoration but also clear information on the cause and\nthe steps to normalise the network.<\/p>\n
PLN previously explained that the outage occurred on a 275 kV\ntransmission line in Muara Bungo, Jambi, affecting Sumatra\u2019s\ninterconnected power grid.<\/p>\n
Sofyano explained that in large-scale power systems, safety\nmechanisms automatically activate when a main line fails to prevent\nwider network damage. Therefore, the restoration process must be carried\nout gradually to maintain network stability and overall system\nsafety.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn a system as large as Sumatra\u2019s, restoration must be done\ncarefully to ensure the network stabilises before full power supply is\nrestored,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Besides technical factors, he added that weather conditions and\nnatural disruptions also pose challenges in managing national\ntransmission and distribution networks.<\/p>\n
He stressed the importance of regular updates to keep the public\ninformed about on-ground conditions and ongoing mitigation efforts.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe priority now is to ensure power supply returns to normal so the\npublic can resume activities smoothly,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
PT PLN (Persero) confirmed that Sumatra\u2019s power system, which\nexperienced a total blackout on Friday (22\/5), has now been\nrestored.<\/p>\n
