Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa shared his experience filing his annual income tax return (SPT) for the 2025 tax year using the new Coretax system, revealing an underpayment of Rp 50 million due to multiple income sources from his roles at LPS and the Ministry. He noted that previous years with a single income from LPS resulted in exact payments, and highlighted initial access issues with Coretax, which the government plans to improve in design and integration to better serve taxpayers. This anecdote underscores the challenges of the updated tax system amid Indonesia's ongoing tax administration reforms.

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa recounted his experience filing
his Annual Income Tax Return (SPT PPh) through the new tax system,
Coretax.

He admitted that upon filing his SPT for the 2025 tax year, he
discovered an underpayment amounting to Rp 50 million.

“Underpayment, around Rp 50 million,” Purbaya stated at the Ministry
of Finance in Jakarta on Wednesday (25/3/2026).

Purbaya explained that this situation differs from previous years
when he only served as Chairman of LPS, with his income sourced from a
single workplace.

“If you work in multiple places, you’re almost certainly going to
underpay, unless it’s just one place. When I was at LPS, I never
underpaid; it was always exact because my salary was only from LPS. Now,
I still have some from LPS and some from here (Ministry of Finance),” he
clarified.

He acknowledged that the SPT filing process was assisted by staff
from the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP). However, there were initial
difficulties in accessing Coretax.

According to him, the development of Coretax is ongoing to make it
more accessible to taxpayers.

Improvements will be made both in terms of design and the system
itself.

“First, it’s a design flaw. Then there’s the software service or
application that connects Coretax with users, to make it faster when
using it. So I suspect Coretax here was made complicated, perhaps
intentionally to create business opportunities. We’ll fix it later,”
Purbaya concluded.
",
