        "content": "<p>Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has clarified that the Rp44\nbillion in assistance for emergency disaster management in East Nusa\nTenggara (NTT) is not a new budget allocation. The funds are part of the\nemergency response budget that the central government transferred to\nregional governments in early August 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was a misunderstanding as if I had added Rp44 billion. That\nRp44 billion is the amount we sent in early August as central government\nassistance to the regions on the President\u2019s orders,\u201d Purbaya said after\nattending a working meeting with the Budget Committee of the Indonesian\nHouse of Representatives in Jakarta on Thursday (20\/8).<\/p>\n<p>Previously, during a visit to earthquake-affected areas in NTT, the\nFinance Minister stated that the government had disbursed Rp44 billion\nfor disaster management in the affected regions. He also said the\ngovernment remained open to increasing the budget based on evaluations\nof developments on the ground and the adequacy of funds for field\nrequirements.<\/p>\n<p>The statement subsequently led to the assumption that the central\ngovernment had disbursed Rp44 billion specifically for earthquake\ndisaster management in NTT. \u201cSo what the regent there said about only\nhaving a few hundred million rupiah \u2014 he most likely forgot to account\nfor the recent transfer. So it was not a new transfer for the disaster,\u201d\nPurbaya said.<\/p>\n<p>The state treasurer said the budget requirements for subsequent\ndisaster management had been calculated by the Minister of Home Affairs\nand submitted to the central government.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the disaster budget, the Minister of Home Affairs has calculated\nand submitted it to us. We are awaiting approval from the State\nSecretariat and the President. But the amount is still manageable, so it\ndoes not threaten the budget,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Finance, through the Directorate General of Fiscal\nBalance, continues to monitor the financial condition of regional\ngovernments affected by the disaster.
