Finance Minister Purbability Yudhi Sadewa has deployed the ranks of\nthe Directorate General of Treasury (DJPb) throughout Indonesia to\nmonitor the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme.\nSupervision will extend to the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG)\nto ensure the programme\u2019s execution complies with regulations.<\/p>\n
Purbaya emphasised that any issues found during the programme\u2019s\nimplementation will be reported to the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).\nIf such issues are not addressed, the government may reduce the\nallocated budget.<\/p>\n
\u201cTherefore, I have deployed the Directorate General of Treasury\npersonnel across Indonesia to periodically monitor the SPPGs existing in\nevery region of Indonesia,\u201d Purbaya said while speaking to journalists\nin Jakarta on Tuesday (8\/9\/2026).<\/p>\n
According to him, the DJPb ranks will conduct regular monitoring of\nSPPGs in various regions. The results of this monitoring will serve as\ninput for the BGN should any problems be discovered in the programme\u2019s\nexecution.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf there are any irregularities, we will provide feedback to the\nBGN, stating that a specific SPPG in a certain location is making\nmistakes. And if that is not heeded, we will automatically reduce their\nbudget,\u201d Purbaya stated.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, Purbaya noted that the implementation of the MBG\nprogramme is currently beginning to show signs of efficiency. He\nhighlighted the cost-saving measures being undertaken by the BGN in\nrunning the programme.<\/p>\n
According to Purbaya, the initial budget requirement for the MBG was\nestimated at IDR 330 trillion. However, that figure subsequently dropped\nto IDR 270 trillion and then further decreased to approximately IDR 240\ntrillion.<\/p>\n
He estimates that the budget requirement for the MBG this year could\neven fall below IDR 200 trillion if the efficiency measures implemented\nby the BGN proceed according to plan.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe budget was originally IDR 330 trillion, then dropped to 270,\nthen 240, and I believe this year\u2019s implementation will be below\nthat\u2014perhaps below 200, my guess, if they implement policies as\nprecisely as they assumed,\u201d said Purbaya.<\/p>\n
Purbaya mentioned that IDR 240 trillion currently serves as the\nmaximum budget benchmark for the MBG programme. However, the final\nbudget requirement will ultimately depend on the effectiveness of the\nefficiency measures carried out by the BGN.<\/p>\n
