Jakarta (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has ensured\nthat as long as he remains in office, there will be no tax amnesty,\nopting instead to focus on refining tax collection.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs I have said before, as long as I am the Finance Minister, there\nwill be no tax amnesty,\u201d Purbaya stated in Jakarta on Thursday, while\nserving as a speaker at the Sarasehan 100 Indonesian Economists\nforum.<\/p>\n
Purbaya explained that his administration prefers to focus on tidying\nup tax collection from taxpayers through standard procedures without\noffering pardons.<\/p>\n
According to him, improving tax collection is more beneficial for tax\nofficials as it carries less risk. \u201cTherefore, I believe the risk lies\nwith the tax officers and banks, so there is no need for a tax amnesty.\nLet us simply refine the tax collection process,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Consequently, Purbaya confirmed that no tax amnesty policy will be\nissued to increase revenue in the tax sector.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs of now, there are no plans for a tax amnesty. To me, it is\ndetrimental to tax officials because, even after several years, audits\ncan still occur.
