        "content": "<p>Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia \u2013 Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa holds\na particular view of Destry Damayanti, who is currently serving as\ninterim Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI).<\/p>\n<p>Destry assumed the role of interim BI Governor after Perry Warjiyo\nsubmitted his resignation letter to President Prabowo Subianto on 25\nJuly 2026.<\/p>\n<p>In Purbaya\u2019s view, Destry is no newcomer capable of steering the\ncentral bank. He said the Senior Deputy Governor is already highly\nexperienced in managing monetary policy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo her knowledge is very good and entirely sufficient to ensure that\nmonetary policy stays in line with what it should be,\u201d said Purbaya\nfollowing a Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK) meeting at the\nLPS building in Jakarta on Tuesday (28\/7\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>As is widely known, following Perry\u2019s resignation, the BI board of\ngovernors held a meeting on 26 July 2026 and decided that Senior Deputy\nGovernor Destry Damayanti would serve as interim Governor, in accordance\nwith Article 50 paragraph (2) of the BI Law.<\/p>\n<p>The mechanism follows Article 48 paragraph (1) letter (a) of Law\nNo.\u00a023 of 1999 on Bank Indonesia, as most recently amended by Law No.\u00a04\nof 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Destry will serve as interim BI Governor until Prabowo submits the\nname of a new BI Governor candidate to the House of Representatives\n(DPR) to undergo a fit and proper test by the DPR\u2019s Commission XI.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Chairman of DPR Commission XI Mohamad Hekal revealed that the\ncandidates proposed by the President may number at most three, based on\nprovisions in the P2SK Law. The DPR has yet to receive a letter from the\nPresident, as Parliament is currently in recess.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are still waiting for the President\u2019s nomination, of at most\nthree names,\u201d Hekal said on CNBC Indonesia\u2019s Power Lunch programme on\nMonday (27\/7\/2026).<\/p>",
