Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has confirmed the reopening of\nTiffany & Co outlets that were previously sealed by the Directorate\nGeneral of Customs and Excise. Purbaya stated that the seals on one of\nthe stores, located in Plaza Indonesia, Central Jakarta, were removed on\nMonday (8\/6\/2026).<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is true, the seals have been opened and I opened them myself,\nalongside inspectors from the Jakarta Directorate General of Customs and\nExcise,\u201d Purbaya said when met at the Ministry of National Development\nPlanning\/Bappenas on Monday.<\/p>\n
Purbaya continued, noting that Tiffany & Co has expressed its\nintention to fulfil its tax obligations and other regulatory\nrequirements, striving for better compliance moving forward. \u201cTiffany is\nwilling to follow government regulations; they will pay, and things will\nbe better in the future,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
He emphasised that the government does not intend to force the\nclosure of their stores or create difficulties for their business\noperations in Indonesia. \u201cI told them that we will not take actions that\nmake it difficult for them to do business in Indonesia. The same applies\nto other investors. As long as they comply with the rules, they will not\nface such issues again. However, moving forward, we will ensure there\nare no sealings if they are willing to compromise,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
Purbaya also clarified that other Tiffany & Co outlets are now\nable to resume operations as of today, confirming that three stores in\ntotal are back in operation.<\/p>\n
As previously reported, in February 202<0xC2>6, the Jakarta\nRegional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise sealed\nthree Tiffany & Co stores in the Senayan area, Jakarta. The sealing\nwas part of an enforcement operation aimed at increasing customs and\nexcise compliance.<\/p>\n

The Jakarta Customs and Excise Regional Office explained that the\nsealing was related to suspected administrative violations regarding\ngoods imported by the American luxury jewellery retailer.
