        "content": "<p>VIVA \u2013 Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said that he and his\nfamily have cancelled their plans to undertake the Hajj pilgrimage in\n2026.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Purbaya did not reveal the reasons for cancelling the fifth pillar\nof Islam. He merely said it was \u2018not his fortune yet\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018That\u2019s not happening,\u2019 he said with a small laugh when asked by\nreporters at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Thursday, 21\nMay 2026.<\/p>\n<p>However, he emphasised that the cancellation was not due to a request\nfrom President Prabowo Subianto nor to any state duty.<\/p>\n<p>He said the cancellation occurred because it is \u2018not his fortune and\nnot yet the time\u2019 to depart in 2026. \u2018No, it wasn\u2019t requested by the\nPresident; perhaps it\u2019s not the time yet, not his fortune,\u2019 Mr Purbaya\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Purbaya said he was saddened not to be able to perform the\npilgrimage and expressed hope that he could undertake the pilgrimage in\n2027. \u2018It\u2019s sad, perhaps, but it\u2019s not too sad, because it\u2019s not the\ntime yet.
