Pulogadung ticket scalpers On Friday, April 10, 1997, both of us (TN and SP), went to the Pulogadung Terminal to take a trip to Salatiga. When we arrived at the terminal, two men in white confronted us. We refused to buy tickets from them, but they still didn't leave us alone. One of the men followed SP and kept tugging her arm. Finally, we were led to one of the ticket counters. Our first option was a bus ticket on the PO Tunggal Dara line priced at Rp 8,000 per person.",

When we arrived
at the terminal, two men in white confronted us.

We refused to buy tickets from them, but they still didn't
leave us alone. One of the men followed SP and kept tugging her
arm. Finally, we were led to one of the ticket counters.

Our first option was a bus ticket on the PO Tunggal Dara line
priced at Rp 8,000 per person. We paid with a Rp 20,000 bill but
did not get our change of Rp 4,000.

Then, when we had a closer look at our tickets, they had been
issued for PO Nantungga instead. Its route was way off from the
one we wanted.

We made inquiries at the counter, but the female ticket vendor
responded in an abusive manner. We then turned to an official of
the Traffic and Transportation Control Agency (DLLAJR) and were
told to see someone in the office. We did as we were told and the
ticket vendor was called to the office. We were then guided back
to the counter, but we were then scolded and treated in a more
impolite way. We returned to the DLLAJR official several times,
with the result of receiving our money back from the scalpers in
white, after a deduction of 20 percent. More disappointing though
were the abusive words the ticket vendor used when it was clear
that our money should have been returned.

We were improperly treated the entire time. We went home
terribly disappointed. We had to cancel our trip to Salatiga.

We hope that our experience will attract the attention of
local authorities, so we can safely go to Pulogadung Terminal
once more.

We believe that many passengers have had the same bad
experience as we had.

Name and address

known to the editor
",
