Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo has revealed suspicions of \u201cdeep\nstate\u201d practices within his ministry. This relates to the handling of\nfindings on budget irregularities amounting to up to Rp1 trillion.<\/p>\n
The statement emerged amid an ongoing internal examination at the\nInspectorate General, following the resignation of two director-generals\nfrom their positions.<\/p>\n
Previously, Dody had explained that the initial report on these\nfindings was merely a draft summary. He then requested the complete\ndocument to fully understand the matter being addressed.<\/p>\n
In the latest development, he claimed to have discovered various\nirregularities in the documents. \u201cYes, there are indeed many oddities.\nIn my personal opinion, there are many oddities. So, it could be said\nthat almost everything mentioned from the start lacks evidence,\u201d Dody\nstated during a working visit to Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java, on\nSunday, 29 March 2026.<\/p>\n
He explained that the initial draft he received consisted of just a\nfew pages of PowerPoint presentation. However, after requesting the full\nreport, Dody found that its contents did not align with the original\naudit objectives, which should have targeted the two\ndirector-generals.<\/p>\n
\u201cPersonally speaking\u2014and I say this again, personally because it\u2019s\nsubjective\u2014the audit is actually on me. So, in that report book, the one\nbeing audited is the Public Works Minister,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
These findings led Dody to link them to the \u201cdeep state\u201d issue\npreviously raised by President Prabowo Subianto. He views the phenomenon\nas real and potentially influencing government processes, including the\nhandling of internal ministry cases.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am merely confirming to all my colleagues that the deep state\ntruly exists. So, it\u2019s not that my president, Prabowo Subianto, is\nmaking it up. I am experiencing it now,\u201d he emphasised.<\/p>\n
According to Dody, if the draft had not been scrutinised further, he\ncould have been cornered in the ongoing case, including the findings on\nbudget irregularities that are still under verification.<\/p>\n
He noted that the initial documents appeared to point towards him as\nthe responsible party. \u201cIf that draft had been released, I would be the\none implicated, as if I were the one committing corruption,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, Dody continued, the audit was originally tasked with\ninvestigating alleged irregularities involving officials under him.
