        "content": "<p>Public warned on encephalitis<\/p>\n<p>DENPASAR, Bali: A local health official have warned the public<br>\nto situate pig pens at a safe distance away from their living<br>\nquarters, in order to prevent the spread of \"brain infections\".<\/p>\n<p>Wayan Semendra said yesterday that pigs are the host for the<br>\nvirus that causes infection of the brain, known as Japanese<br>\nEncephalitis, which is then passed along to humans through<br>\nmosquito bites.<\/p>\n<p>The symptoms of the disease include headache, muscle pain,<br>\nfever and certain cramps which causes difficulties in speaking,<br>\nAntara reported.<\/p>\n<p>In Indonesia, the disease has yet to be included in the top<br>\nlist of infections to be eradicated because of its low<br>\nprevalence, Semendra said.<\/p>\n<p>\"This doesn't mean we don't take any precautions against the<br>\ndisease,\" Semendra said. \"Our office is currently conducting<br>\nresearch on it.\"<\/p>\n<p>Many Balinese people breed pigs and let them roam freely in<br>\ntheir housing compounds.
