Public warned of dead fish risk<\/p>\n
PALANGKARAYA, Central Kalimantan: People in the province are
\nbeing warned not to buy dead fish to avoid food poisoning.<\/p>\n
\"This is the only way to avoid poisoning from contaminated
\nfish,\" said Tukik B Toemon head of the province's health office.<\/p>\n
\"Don't buy fish in the market if it is dead, especially if it
\ncomes from a river.\"<\/p>\n
Palangkaraya residents have recently become wary of the
\ndangers of food poisoning since the use of toxic materials to
\ncatch fish has increased.<\/p>\n
But the health office would not confirm the number of people
\nwho have reportedly been admitted to hospital with food poisoning
\nfrom eating fish.<\/p>\n
\"We can't say because it's very difficult. Someone could be
\nadmitted to hospital for stomach pains after eating fish, but
\nthis may have nothing to do with any toxic material,\" said Tukik.
