Public facilities transfer delayed<\/p>\n
TANGERANG: Many developers, especially those that have built
\nlow-cost housing complexes in Tangerang regency, have not
\ntransferred land that is to be provided for public facilities to
\nthe regency administration.<\/p>\n
So far, the administration has not taken any action to push
\nhousing developers to submit 30 percent of their total land as
\nrequired by a regulation for building public facilities.<\/p>\n
In many cases, the administration has refused to accept the
\nland from other developers, saying that the cost of maintaining
\nthe property would be a burden for them.<\/p>\n
In one example, the administration refused to accept a park
\nand street lights in the Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) housing estate
\ndespite an offer from developer PT BSD.<\/p>\n
\"We cannot afford the maintenance cost (of the public
\nfacilities) as we don't have any money,\" Nanang Komara, the chief
\nof the regency building management and zoning agency, said on
\nWednesday.<\/p>\n
He added that the administration would only accept the land
\nfrom housing developers if residents demanded that the
\nadministration provide public facilities, such as schools, places
\nof worship, public cemeteries or sport centers.--JP<\/p>",
