        "content": "<p>JAKARTA \u2013 The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani,\nhas confirmed that a Bill to Amend Law Number 28 of 2014 concerning\nCopyright will be drafted to protect creators and creative\nprofessionals, particularly in the digital era.<\/p>\n<p>The Copyright Bill has been established for discussion as a House of\nRepresentatives initiative.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis Copyright Bill is being drafted to address the challenges of\nthe continually evolving digital era, so that protection for creators\nand creative professionals becomes increasingly robust and relevant,\u201d\nPuan told reporters on Thursday, 12 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Puan wishes to ensure that every creator \u2013 musicians, writers,\nartists, journalists, and other creative professionals \u2013 receives fair\ncompensation and economic benefits for their work.<\/p>\n<p>The Copyright Bill regulates more transparent and accountable royalty\nmanagement. In this way, the economic rights of creators are truly\nrealised by those entitled to them.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the Copyright Bill emphasises the responsibility of\ndigital platforms in order for them to become fair partners to creators,\nrather than merely exploiting their work without adequate\ncompensation.<\/p>\n<p>According to Puan, the Copyright Bill also strengthens protections\nfor journalistic works and press companies.
