        "content": "<p>PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) I is strengthening sugarcane commodity\ndevelopment to support national sugar needs while underpinning the\ngovernment\u2019s priority E10 bioethanol programme. PTPN I Corporate\nSecretary Aris Handoyo said increasing sugarcane production is a crucial\nstep to simultaneously meet two strategic requirements. \u201cThe target must\nindeed increase. Because when sugarcane is processed, one of its outputs\nis ethanol, so we must allocate for ethanol,\u201d he said during a media\ndiscussion in Jakarta on Monday evening. According to him, sugarcane\nprocessing yields not only consumption sugar but also molasses, which is\nthe primary feedstock for bioethanol production. Therefore, expanding\nplanting areas and improving sugarcane productivity are vital factors to\nensure both sugar and bioethanol demands can be met without reducing\neach other\u2019s supply. Beyond expanding planting areas, PTPN I is also\nrunning a productivity enhancement programme to boost sugarcane yield,\nallowing sugar and derivative product output to increase simultaneously.\nBoosting sugarcane production is deemed essential so that the allocation\nof raw materials for sugar and molasses for ethanol can be optimised to\nsupport the government\u2019s E10 implementation target. \u201cBecause with that\napproach, dividing the output between sugar and molasses for ethanol can\nbe more easily managed. This E10 obligation is one of the basic targets\nof Mr Prabowo (President Prabowo Subianto) and the Agriculture Minister\n(Andi Amran Sulaiman). And PTPN supports that,\u201d he asserted. Aris said\nsupport for the bioethanol programme aligns with the government\u2019s target\nof developing domestically sourced biofuel blends. The move is expected\nto strengthen food security while supporting energy resilience through\nthe utilisation of domestic agricultural resources. \u201cNow we are aiming\nfor self-sufficiency, so the easiest way is to expand the area and\nincrease production,\u201d he explained. PTPN I considers sugarcane\ndevelopment to have a strategic role as it is directly linked to food\nneeds, energy, and improving the welfare of Indonesian farmers.
