        "content": "<p>PT Unindo denies protest reports<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): The management of PT Unindo, a producer of<br>\ndistribution and power transformers and medium voltage<br>\nswitchgears, yesterday denied reports that it was among companies<br>\naccused by workers of failing to make the compulsory extra<br>\npayment to its employees.<\/p>\n<p>The payment of the equivalent of one month's wages must, by<br>\nlaw, be made prior to the major religious holidays of workers.<\/p>\n<p>Herve Hernabeu, vice president of PT Unindo, whose factory is<br>\nlocated in East Jakarta, said that his company did not have any<br>\nproblem with its workers.<\/p>\n<p>\"We are a joint venture company of the Indonesian government<br>\nand the Anglo-French company GEC Alsthom and our trade mark is<br>\nregistered with the Ministry of Justice,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>Over 70 workers from seven companies in Bogor and Tangerang<br>\nattended the Ministry of Manpower on Friday to protest against<br>\nemployer violations of the ministerial decree on annual extra<br>\npay.<\/p>\n<p>The 70 workers claimed to represent about 1,500 other workers<br>\nwho have not yet received the compulsory extra pay. The seven<br>\ncompanies concerned are PT Ever Sintex and PT Sungil Sejahtera in<br>\nCileungsi, near Bogor, and PT Sinar Ragam, PT Unindo NPS, PT<br>\nTrimasakti, PT OHA Kencana and PT Tebing Artanas, all in<br>\nTangerang.<\/p>\n<p>The Tangerang-based PT Unindo NPS is a producer of sandals and<br>\ncarpets.
