Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Timah and PT Perminas are collaborating to\nstrengthen the development of national strategic mineral downstream\nprocessing, in line with the government\u2019s commitment to building\nindustrial self-reliance and reinforcing Indonesia\u2019s position in the\nglobal supply chain for critical minerals.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter a long struggle, we have finally agreed on a collaboration\nbetween PT TIMAH and PERMINAS. This is not merely rhetoric, but a\nconcrete step to begin a new journey in building Indonesia\u2019s mineral\nsovereignty,\u201d said Gilarsi Wahju Setijono, President Director of\nPerminas (Persero), in a statement received in Jakarta on Friday.<\/p>\n
One concrete step is the signing of the Conditional Framework between\nPT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk and PT Perusahaan Mineral Nasional (Persero)\n(Perminas) for the development of tin slag processing and rare earth\nelements (REE\/LTJ) in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province.<\/p>\n
This cooperation is set out in a conditional cooperation framework\ntitled Sovereign Strategic Mineral Cooperation Framework for Tin Slag\nProcessing, Monazite & REE\/LTJ Bangka.<\/p>\n
The collaboration forms part of efforts to support the government\u2019s\ndownstream agenda while strengthening national mineral sovereignty\nthrough the optimal utilisation of resources that have not been fully\nexploited to date.<\/p>\n
Gilarsi said that the agreement with PT TIMAH represents an important\nmoment in building national strategic mineral management, particularly\ntin slag processing and rare earth elements.<\/p>\n
According to him, the process towards the collaboration involved\nintensive discussions to formulate a framework of cooperation to be\nimplemented by both companies.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, PT TIMAH\u2019s President Director Restu Widiyantoro expressed\nappreciation for government support that opens opportunities for the\ncompany to expand its role in developing strategic mineral downstream\nprocessing.<\/p>\n
According to him, for decades PT TIMAH had focused on processing tin\nore from upstream to downstream for export. However, through this\nstrategic collaboration, the company now has the opportunity to increase\nadded value through the management of strategic minerals.<\/p>\n
