The Batang Industropolis Special Economic Zone (SEZ) has successfully\nattracted foreign direct investment (FDI) from South Korea through PT\nSimone Batang Indonesia. This global manufacturing company, focused on\nleather-based products, strengthens the zone\u2019s position as a centre for\nexport-oriented labour-intensive industries.<\/p>\n
According to Money, the investment allocated for this project amounts\nto Rp 429 billion. The production facility will occupy a land area of\n8.28 hectares in the Batang Industropolis SEZ, which has recorded\nsignificant land absorption growth until early 2026.<\/p>\n
This expansion is predicted to create substantial economic\nopportunities for the local community, with projections for absorbing\naround 6,000 workers. The presence of this company represents a\nstrategic step in enhancing the competitiveness of national\nmanufacturing in international markets.<\/p>\n
Indri Septa Respati, Director of Marketing and Development for Batang\nIndustropolis SEZ, views the influx of foreign capital as concrete\nevidence of international investors\u2019 trust in Indonesia\u2019s business\nclimate.<\/p>\n

PT Simone Batang Indonesia itself is a long-standing player in the\nmanufacturing industry, operating since 1987. The company has an\nextensive operational network in Asia, including Vietnam and Cambodia,\nand holds a dominant market share.<\/p>\n
Globally, the entity commands about 10 per cent of the world market\nshare and 30 per cent of the US market. The retail value of the products\nproduced collectively exceeds 7 billion US dollars.<\/p>\n
Target Operations and Construction Plans<\/p>\n
Kim Jung Shik, President Director of PT Simone Batang Indonesia,\nrevealed that the geographical position and infrastructure support were\nthe main reasons for choosing Indonesia as a long-term expansion\nlocation.<\/p>\n

The factory construction process is planned to begin in the next two\nmonths. Management targets the physical construction of the building to\nbe fully completed by July 2026.<\/p>\n
Following the completion of the construction phase, factory\noperations will be rolled out gradually starting from July 2027.
