        "content": "<p>PT Ingold responds<\/p>\n<p>I was amazed reading an article in The Jakarta Post on Dec. 20<br>\ntitled, Environmentalists urge STD ban.<\/p>\n<p>The article stated that PT Ingold planned to use submarine<br>\ntailings disposal (STD) in Maluku. This is a big lie. PT Ingold<br>\nis an exploration company that indeed did some exploration on<br>\nHaruku island in Maluku for zinc, from February 1998 to December<br>\n2001.<\/p>\n<p>After December 2001, the company gave up its contract of work<br>\nin Maluku and is in the process of liquidating its outfit there.<br>\nThis is because the exploration efforts in that area were not<br>\nsuccessful, as the ore discovered was not enough to warrant<br>\nfurther mining.<\/p>\n<p>So, why was Ingold mentioned as planning to use STD in Maluku<br>\nwhen the company has no plans to mine there?<\/p>\n<p>B.N.
