        "content": "<p>The President Director of PT Garam (Persero), Abraham Mose, stated\nthat efforts to increase national salt production are ongoing to achieve\nthe salt self-sufficiency targets set by the government through\nextensification programmes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince last year, we have begun utilising ineffective land to be\nconverted into salt fields. This effort is being undertaken to support\nthe central government\u2019s policy of ensuring Indonesia no longer relies\non salt imports,\u201d said Abraham during a beach clean-up event in Sampang,\nEast Java, on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that President Prabowo Subianto has issued Presidential\nRegulation Number 17 of 2025 regarding the Acceleration of National Salt\nDevelopment to achieve independence and self-sufficiency in salt\nproduction.<\/p>\n<p>This regulation, he noted, contains four key points: the target for\nsalt self-sufficiency, the cessation of imports, the empowerment of salt\nfarmers, and the utilisation of salt production technology.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe extensification we are currently undertaking is an effort to\nachieve the first target and to stop imports as the second point,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to extensification, Abraham added that PT Garam is also\nincreasing the number of brine ponds and improving saltwater flow into\nreservoirs to boost production.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough this extensification, we are beginning to build salt\nindustrialisation in several provinces to identify salt sources, thereby\nrevitalising salt-producing communities,\u201d said Abraham.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the production target for the 2026 salt season on Madura\nIsland, PT Garam President Director Abraham Mose stated that production\nis expected to rise by approximately 500 tonnes, from the previous\n350,000 tonnes to 400,000 tonnes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are optimistic that this target can be achieved, as the weather\nis very favourable and we have implemented systemic efforts to increase\nsalt production,\u201d he explained.<\/p>",
