Jakarta (ANTARA) \u2014 An enjoyable learning atmosphere can help children\ndevelop curiosity, creativity, and the courage to try new things,\naccording to child and family psychologist Irma Gustiana A., S.Psi.,\nM.Psi.<\/p>\n
\u201cChildren learn more easily when they feel emotionally safe, valued,\nand have the opportunity to explore without fear of making mistakes,\u201d\nsaid Irma at the Oreo Berbagi Inspirasi event with Fatayat NU in Jakarta\non Sunday (6\/9).<\/p>\n
In a statement issued by Oreo on Monday, Irma said a positive\nlearning environment not only helps children understand learning\nmaterial, but can also support the development of a number of abilities\nneeded in their growth process.<\/p>\n
She said an enjoyable learning atmosphere can encourage curiosity,\ncreativity, problem-solving skills, and children\u2019s courage to try new\nthings.<\/p>\n
This approach, she said, can be applied through simple activities\nthat allow children to learn whilst playing and interacting with the\npeople around them.<\/p>\n
Deputy Minister for Women\u2019s Empowerment and Child Protection Veronica\nTan said parents need to set aside time to accompany their children\nduring their developmental years.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat children see, the words that are spoken, and the love and\naffection given by parents will be noticed by children. Therefore, let\nus commit to setting aside time with our children, to educate and\naccompany them,\u201d said Veronica.<\/p>\n
She believes strengthening the role of women and families must be\ndone collectively through collaboration between various parties in order\nto provide better support for children\u2019s growth and development.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Deputy Secretary-General of PP Fatayat NU, Hj. Kusnainik,\nsaid mothers have a strategic role in creating an environment that\nsupports children\u2019s learning process starting from home.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe believe that mothers have a strategic role in providing an\nenvironment that supports children\u2019s learning process from home,\u201d she\nsaid.<\/p>\n
She said mothers also need spaces to learn from one another and share\nexperiences about parenting and supporting children.<\/p>\n
Participants were also introduced to the playful learning approach \u2014\nlearning through play \u2014 via literacy, numeracy, science, and English\nactivities. Following the briefing, participants took part in\nsimulations and practical exercises using the method so it could be\napplied in activities with children at home.<\/p>\n
The event was a collaboration between Oreo and Fatayat NU through the\nOreo Berbagi Inspirasi programme, themed \u201cEncouraging the SERU\nGeneration to Grow More Meaningfully Through Enjoyable Learning\u201d.<\/p>\n
Country Head of Corporate and Government Affairs at Mondel\u0113z\nIndonesia, Marfusita Hamburgiwati, said positive learning experiences\ncan be built through various simple activities together with family.<\/p>\n
\u201cThrough togetherness in activities such as learning and playing\ntogether, children can feel more comfortable exploring, trying new\nthings, and developing their potential,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
