PSSI to decide fate of Danurwindo today<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) will
\nmeet today to decide whether to replace Danurwindo as national
\ncoach.<\/p>\n
A PSSI source said yesterday the association's technical
\ndirector, Nirwan Bakrie, would issue a statement on Danurwindo
\nand problems facing the organization.<\/p>\n
Danurwindo said earlier that he was responsible for the team's
\npoor performances against Yemen and Cambodia.<\/p>\n
Indonesia was held to a 0-0 home draw against Yemen and has
\nwon two matches against Cambodia, 8-0 at home and 1-1 away, in
\nits Group 5 World Cup Asian zone qualifying matches.<\/p>\n
Indonesia leads the group with five points, followed by Yemen
\nwith four points and Cambodia with one point. Uzbekistan has not
\nyet played any matches in the group.<\/p>\n
Uzbekistan has its first away match May 9 against Yemen. It
\nwill meet Cambodia away on May 25 before taking on Indonesia away
\non June 1.<\/p>\n
Uzbekistan, a former Soviet Union state, will host Indonesia
\non June 20, Cambodia on June 29 and Yemen on July 13.<\/p>\n
Indonesia's next match is against Yemen away on June 13.<\/p>\n
Danurwindo has said he will resign if the association doubts
\nhis competence.<\/p>\n
The association was aware of Danurwindo's statement and would
\ndecide his fate today, the source said.<\/p>\n
The association's secretary, Nugraha Besoes, said Tuesday that
\nthere would be a meeting today.<\/p>\n
"The meeting will be attended by all the association's
\nmembers. It will also discuss reports and evaluations on the
\nnational team's performance," Nugraha was quoted by the daily
\nKompas.<\/p>\n
Nugraha declined to say whether changes would be made to the
\nteam. "This will be decided in the meeting on Thursday. The
\nmeeting will also discuss whether the match against Uzbekistan on
\nJune 1 will be held in Surabaya or at Senayan."<\/p>\n
The source said the association was considering replacing
\nDanurwindo with Dutchman Henk Wullems, who is coaching the Pelita
\nMastrans club in Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Nugraha said, "PSSI chairman Azwar Anas has agreed to consider
\nhiring the Dutch coach to train the national team."<\/p>\n
On a new team manager, the source said two candidates had been
\nproposed: Andrie Amin, manager of Pelita Mastrans, and Trie
\nGoestoro, manager of Bandung Raya.<\/p>\n
Andrie and Trie are considered ideal candidates because they
\nhave worked with Henk Wullems.<\/p>\n
"The approval of Andrie or Trie has yet to be decided by the
\nPSSI chairman," the source said.<\/p>\n
State Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Hayono Isman said
\nTuesday that Azwar Anas had the authority to replace the national
\ncoach and manager.<\/p>\n
"Azwar knows more about PSSI's problems, so I will leave the
