PSSI plans to hire neutral auditing firm<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): As a way to improve the financial situation of
\nthe Soccer Association of Indonesia (PSSI), chairman Agum Gumelar
\nannounced on Tuesday evening a plan to hire
\nPricewaterhouseCoopers to audit the PSSI.<\/p>\n
\"We plan to ask PricewaterhouseCoopers to do our auditing. We
\nhave a specific goal but I can't reveal that right now. One thing
\nfor sure is that we plan to make the PSSI more independent in the
\nfuture,\" he said during a breaking the fast event at his
\nresidence.<\/p>\n
Agum, however, refused to elaborate. The PSSI is audited each
\nmonth by a public accounting firm.<\/p>\n
\"We dismiss the internal audit post in our organizational
\nstructure, because the auditor, Irawan Adjidarmo, had been
\nappointed team manager for Persija soccer club. So we have made a
\nnew plan which is aimed at making the association more
\nprofessional and independent.\"<\/p>\n
Agum also revealed the change of officials in his organization
\nafter the resignation of the official in charge of athletes
\ndevelopment, Nurdin Halid.<\/p>\n
Nurdin was criticized over his alleged decision to discharge
\nnational team coach Nandar Iskandar during the 2000 Tiger Cup
\nqualifying round in Thailand last month.<\/p>\n
Agum approved Nurdin's resignation last Wednesday on the
\ngrounds that the latter wanted to be freed from the media attack
\nwhich had caused a psychological burden to his family.<\/p>\n
Nurdin is replaced by Ismet D. Tahir, the official in charge
\nof competitions and tournaments, while Sartomo, the official in
\ncharge of human resources development, took over Ismet's post.<\/p>\n
Sartomo's post is left vacant but Agum pledged to recruit a
\nnew person to take the job.<\/p>\n
At a lower level of the organization, training manager Yopie
\nLeepel is appointed as the technical director replacing Ronny
\nPattinasarani. The latter takes the job as the director of junior
\nsoccer development and will be assisted by Eddie Simon Wijaya as
\nthe junior soccer development manager.<\/p>\n
Agum also recruited Bambang Nurdiansyah to replace Yopie and
\nTumpak Sihite as the manager in charge of talentscouting.<\/p>\n
In the marketing and promotion commission, Hendra Gunawan
\nreplaced Tantowi Yahya who withdrew in October. The executive
\nsecretary post was dismissed and secretary, M. Achwani, was
\nappointed as the league manager, replacing the late Karnadi.<\/p>\n
Another newcomer was Gunawan Tjandra, the facilities director.<\/p>\n
Ismet said that he is likely to prioritize the development of
\njunior soccer.<\/p>\n
\"I can't talk yet about my program because I have to discuss
