PSIS fan dies from injuries<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): One of five injured soccer fans of PSIS Semarang
\nsoccer team died on Sunday after four days of intensive care at
\nCipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital.<\/p>\n
Jimmy Riyanto Wibowo's death brought to 11 the toll of PSIS
\nfans who died from being crushed by trains or from electrocution.<\/p>\n
He was first treated at Pasar Rebo Hospital in East Jakarta
\nafter being hit by a speeding Jakarta-Bogor train at the Lenteng
\nAgung railway track in South Jakarta on Thursday morning. He
\nsuffered severe head wounds and injuries over his body.<\/p>\n
He was experiencing breathing difficulties when he was
\ntransferred later to Cipto on the same day.<\/p>\n
His mother, Santi Meliana, who arrived in the capital after
\nhearing of the accident, took Jimmy's corpse on Monday in an
\nambulance for burial in Mataram, North Semarang.<\/p>\n
Santi said her son frequently misbehaved, including betting on
\nsoccer matches.<\/p>\n
\"Prior to his departure to Jakarta, he asked for Rp 3,000 (35
\nU.S. cents) from his brother,\" the widow said.<\/p>\n
PSIS official Farchan said Jimmy's hospital, transportation
\nand burial expenses would be paid by the Semarang administration.<\/p>\n
The status of the other injured PSIS fans is unknown.<\/p>\n
The 10 other fatalities were immediately transported to
\nCentral Java on Friday. Their bills also were paid by the
\nSemarang administration.<\/p>\n
Thousands of soccer fans, locally called bonek, from East and
\nCentral Java thronged to Jakarta on Thursday to watch the
\nsemifinal of their favorite teams during the Indonesia Soccer
\nLeague at the Senayan stadium.<\/p>\n
Following the fatal accidents and fear of possible unrest, the
\nauthorities abruptly changed the time and venue for the final to
\nthe North Sulawesi capital of Manado on Friday. (01)<\/p>",
