        "content": "<p>Providing educational advisory service<\/p>\n<p>The American-Indonesian Exchange Foundation (AMINEF) was<br>\nestablished in 1987 to administer the Fulbright Program in<br>\nIndonesia, and has brought the U.S.-Indonesian program a higher<br>\nlevel of cooperation and local involvement. Its founding was the<br>\nfirst step toward an intergovernmental agreement to establish a<br>\nbinational education exchange commission that was signed in July<br>\n1992 and makes Indonesia and the U.S. full partners in the<br>\nadministration of the Fulbright program.<\/p>\n<p>AMINEF gives detailed information about the availability of<br>\nFulbright scholarships throughout the Indonesian academic<br>\ncommunity and runs open merit-based competitions for Fulbright<br>\ngrants. It reviews applications and arranges interviews with<br>\nbinational selection committees for those applicants who meet<br>\nminimum standards for the program.<\/p>\n<p>The foundation also administers the Hubert H. Humphrey North-<br>\nSouth Fellowship Program, which brings accomplished professionals<br>\nfrom developing countries to the U.S. at a midpoint in their<br>\ncareers for a year of study and practical training.<\/p>\n<p>Another of AMINEF's highly visible undertakings is management<br>\nof the Educational Advising Service (EAS) in Jakarta, Surabaya<br>\nand Medan. EAS helps sponsored and nonsponsored students prepare<br>\nfor study at accredited institutions in the U.S. at both<br>\nundergraduate and graduate levels.<\/p>\n<p>EAS advisors provide current and accurate information about<br>\nprograms and admission requirements. They offer counseling on<br>\nsuch matters as testing, transfer of credits and postacceptance<br>\npreparations. EAS also holds free weekly orientation sessions for<br>\nthose contemplating study in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>Currently open to Indonesian students are the following<br>\nFulbright grants and scholarships:<\/p>\n<p>* Senior Research Program 1999\/2000; registration deadline: Sept.<br>\n14, 1998.<\/p>\n<p>* Junior Research Grant for Indonesian University Doctoral<br>\nCandidates 1999\/2000; registration deadline: Sept. 7, 1998.<\/p>\n<p>* Scholar-in-Residence Program 1999\/2000; registration deadline:<br>\nSept. 21, 1998.<\/p>\n<p>* Scholarships for 2000\/2001; registration deadline: Oct. 5,<br>\n1998.<\/p>\n<p>* KTI Scholarships for 2000\/2001 -- to students from Kawasan<br>\nTimur Indonesia (KTI); registration deadline: Oct. 5, 1998.<\/p>\n<p>* Hubert H.
