Providing educational advisory service<\/p>\n
The American-Indonesian Exchange Foundation (AMINEF) was
\nestablished in 1987 to administer the Fulbright Program in
\nIndonesia, and has brought the U.S.-Indonesian program a higher
\nlevel of cooperation and local involvement. Its founding was the
\nfirst step toward an intergovernmental agreement to establish a
\nbinational education exchange commission that was signed in July
\n1992 and makes Indonesia and the U.S. full partners in the
\nadministration of the Fulbright program.<\/p>\n
AMINEF gives detailed information about the availability of
\nFulbright scholarships throughout the Indonesian academic
\ncommunity and runs open merit-based competitions for Fulbright
\ngrants. It reviews applications and arranges interviews with
\nbinational selection committees for those applicants who meet
\nminimum standards for the program.<\/p>\n
The foundation also administers the Hubert H. Humphrey North-
\nSouth Fellowship Program, which brings accomplished professionals
\nfrom developing countries to the U.S. at a midpoint in their
\ncareers for a year of study and practical training.<\/p>\n
Another of AMINEF's highly visible undertakings is management
\nof the Educational Advising Service (EAS) in Jakarta, Surabaya
\nand Medan. EAS helps sponsored and nonsponsored students prepare
\nfor study at accredited institutions in the U.S. at both
\nundergraduate and graduate levels.<\/p>\n
EAS advisors provide current and accurate information about
\nprograms and admission requirements. They offer counseling on
\nsuch matters as testing, transfer of credits and postacceptance
\npreparations. EAS also holds free weekly orientation sessions for
\nthose contemplating study in the U.S.<\/p>\n
