        "content": "<p>Protesters take over KPUD office<\/p>\n<p>BANDARLAMPUNG, Lampung: Supporters of Kristop Arya and<br>\nSholihul Hadi, who had hoped to contest the election for regional<br>\nheads, took over the office of the Way Kanan regional election<br>\ncommittee (KPUD) in Bandarlampung on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The protesters, who arrived in trucks and on motorcycles on<br>\nMonday, demanded the committee explain why their candidates could<br>\nnot run in the June 27 election.<\/p>\n<p>The protesters' demand that Kristop and Sholihul be allowed to<br>\nrun in the election was rejected by four members of the<br>\ncommittee, who say the registration deadline had passed.<\/p>\n<p>Unsatisfied with this response, the protesters refused to<br>\nleave the committee's office. They only calmed down when Kristop<br>\nand representatives of the protesters spoke with the committee's<br>\nhead and committee members, eventually leaving the office about 7<br>\np.m.<\/p>\n<p>Committee member Iskardo said the registration period was from<br>\nApril 6 to April 12, and only four pairs of candidates had<br>\nregistered. -- JPProtesters take over KPUD office<\/p>",
