Protest over utilities<\/p>\n
TANGERANG, West Java (JP): More than 50 house owners at the
\nTaman Balaraja complex staged a protest yesterday, urging the
\ndeveloper to keep its promises to provide electricity and a clean
\nwater supply.<\/p>\n
The protest erupted after the state-owned electricity company
\ncut illegal installations at 53 houses in the complex.<\/p>\n
One of the protesters, Sunarto said \"we have had to install
\nelectricity illegally as we have lived here for almost one year
\nwithout electricity. The developer, PT Duta Cipta Graha, failed
\nto keep its promise.\"<\/p>\n
He said only one house had a electricity legally although the
\ndeveloper said all houses would have electricity soon after being
\nbought.<\/p>\n
The residents protested in April June this year. \"The
\ndeveloper has not responded at all,\" one resident said.<\/p>\n
The electricity company's director, Herman Kurnia took the
\ncomplainants to the electricity company head office in Central
\nJakarta. Herman refused to comment on the protests.<\/p>\n
The residents are now being sued by the electricity company
\nfor stealing electricity. (27\/sur)<\/p>",
