Protest decries gambling dens<\/p>\n
TANGERANG (JP): Dozens of students from an Islamic college
\nhere visited the Tangerang Regency office on Thursday, demanding
\nthe closure of several alleged gambling dens in the city.<\/p>\n
The students' spokesman, Nasrudin, said they demanded that
\nRegent Agus Djunara close down the gambling dens located in
\nseveral areas, including Balaraja and Mauk districts.<\/p>\n
\"If the regent cannot close down the gambling dens, it's
\nbetter that he resign.\"<\/p>\n
The students also demanded that the regent shut several
\namusement centers allegedly fronting for prostitution.<\/p>\n
He said the students along with Muslim preachers used lectures
\nand religious discussions to urge the public not to patronize the
\nplaces.<\/p>\n
\"We have also reported the matter to the police, but not a
\nsingle response has been received,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, regency spokeswoman Ena Karlina said the regent had
\ninstructed all district and subdistrict heads to close the
\nalleged gambling and prostitution dens.<\/p>\n
\"The district and subdistrict heads are required to report to
\nthe regent every week,\" Ena said. (41\/jun)<\/p>",
