        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) \u2013 The Yogyakarta Regional Police (Polda DIY) has\nconfirmed that the situation at the Polda DIY headquarters on Tuesday\nevening has returned to normal following unrest during a protest related\nto the alleged assault of a teenager by a member of the Mobile Brigade\n(Brimob) in Tual, Maluku.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Head of Public Relations (Kabidhumas) of Polda DIY,\nCommissioner Pol. Ihsan, the three students who were briefly detained\nduring the unrest have also been returned to their respective university\nadministrations after coordination.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe regret that the demonstration ended in unrest and resulted in\ndamage to the eastern fence of the Polda headquarters. However, overall,\nthe situation was brought under control by officers on the ground,\u201d said\nIhsan, according to a written statement received in Jakarta on\nWednesday.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that the demonstration, which initially began as a peaceful\nexpression of aspirations, ended in unrest, accompanied by damage to\nfacilities at the Polda DIY headquarters.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the escalation of the situation with an anarchist crowd,\nIhsan assured that the police officers on duty continued to prioritise\npersuasive measures and patience. Local wisdom and Javanese cultural\nvalues were also prioritised in handling the situation, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the Kabidhumas of Polda DIY stated that his team did not\nuse tear gas when dispersing the protesters, and information stating\notherwise is untrue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe would like to emphasise that during the security operation,\nofficers were not equipped with weapons. The sounds heard at the\nlocation came from firecrackers brought by the protesters,\u201d said\nCommissioner Pol. Ihsan.<\/p>\n<p>After the escalation subsided, the situation in front of the Polda\nDIY headquarters is now reported to be safe and under control.
