        "content": "<p>Protest at Japan Embassy<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Fifteen people, who claimed to be members of an<br>\norganization called the United Revolutionary Continuance of 1966<br>\nStruggle (KPP&apos;66), staged a protest rally in front of the<br>\nJapanese Embassy yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The organization&apos;s chief, Leopold Rotinsulu, said they were<br>\nprotesting against Japanese complaints to the World Trade<br>\nOrganization (WTO) about Indonesia&apos;s national car policy.<\/p>\n<p>Japan and the European Union have lodged complaints with the<br>\nWTO over the discriminatory treatment given to Indonesia&apos;s<br>\nnational car project, Timor. The United States recently followed<br>\nsuit.<\/p>\n<p>The protesters asked to see the ambassador, but since he was<br>\nnot available, they were received by Nomura, a first secretary.<\/p>\n<p>According to Rotinsulu, Nomura said that Japan would not bring<br>\nup the car issue with the WTO.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Mr. Nomura said that his government promises not to intervene<br>\nin the national car project, instead they would like to help in<br>\nthe transfer of automotive technology to Indonesia,&quot; he said.<\/p>\n<p>The protesters carried banners saying &quot;Tommy, the pioneer of<br>\nthe national car&quot; and &quot;We love national products&quot;.<\/p>\n<p>The protest was the second against the Japanese government<br>\nthis week, the other was staged by a different group.
