        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya has\nconfirmed that traffic flow in Jakarta remains generally normal and that\nroad diversions will be implemented situationally ahead of a planned\nprotest at the DPR\/MPR building and surrounding areas on Thursday\n(27\/8).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCurrently and through tomorrow, Jakarta is in a safe and conducive\ncondition, including traffic flow which remains generally normal.\nTraffic management and diversions will be carried out situationally\naccording to developments on the ground,\u201d said Traffic Director of Polda\nMetro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Firman Darmansyah, when contacted in\nJakarta on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Firman stated that the capital is guaranteed to be safe and conducive\nuntil Thursday (27\/8). Therefore, a permanent traffic diversion scheme\nhas not been imposed from the outset.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding anticipation of potential congestion around Jalan Gatot\nSubroto and the DPR RI area, police have asked road users and the wider\npublic to respond wisely to developments on the ground.<\/p>\n<p>Firman urged the public not to be easily provoked by circulating\nrumours and to always verify the truth of any information before\nspreading it on social media.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe public is urged to remain calm, not to be easily provoked, and\nto verify the truth of information before sharing it,\u201d said Firman.<\/p>\n<p>Polda Metro Jaya has deployed personnel at various points across\nJakarta to oversee the demonstration scheduled for Thursday (27\/8).<\/p>\n<p>Police are coordinating with the Indonesian National Armed Forces\n(TNI), the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, and internal security\nofficers at various locations, including the DPR and agencies in the\narea from the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout towards the Jakarta\nPresidential Palace.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt several of these points we have also made preparations to secure\nthe expression of public opinion,\u201d said Head of Public Relations of\nPolda Metro Jaya, Police Commissioner Budi Hermanto, when met at the DPR\nRI building in Jakarta on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The personnel assigned are not only tasked with overseeing the\nprotest but also with other security needs, so their numbers will exceed\nthose of the demonstrators.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, Budi has not yet detailed the number of personnel to be\ndeployed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe must clarify and explain.
