        "content": "<p>Protest against crooked politicians<\/p>\n<p>BANDUNG: Hundreds of students, youths and activists of non-<br>\ngovernmental organizations (NGOs) staged a rally in Bandung, West<br>\nJava, on Wednesday to protest crooked politicians from West Java<br>\nwho were running for office in the coming elections.<\/p>\n<p>In the rally attended by economist Faisal Basri and singers<br>\nFranky Sahilatua and Harry Roesli, the protesters named five<br>\nlegislative candidates for whom they said the public should not<br>\nvote.<\/p>\n<p>Eko Arif Nugroho, the protest coordinator, named the five as<br>\nKurdi Mukri, a deputy speaker of West Java provincial council who<br>\nwill contest the election on the United Development Party (PPP)<br>\nticket, Udin Koswara, a legislative candidate from the Concern<br>\nfor the Nation Functional Party (PKPB) and Iyos Sumantri, Dede<br>\nAchmad Zaini and Dadang Naser. The last three are the legislative<br>\ncandidates from the Golkar Party.<\/p>\n<p>All five have been named suspects in graft cases.<\/p>\n<p>Faisal Basri, the chairman of the Preparatory Committee for<br>\nthe Indonesian Movement (KPPI), said the committee would make<br>\npublic the complete list of crooked legislative candidates.<\/p>\n<p>\"We are ready to face lawsuits from those legislative<br>\ncandidates, should it come to that,\" he said. -- JP<\/p>",
