        "content": "<p>Samarinda (ANTARA) - It was still early morning when security\npersonnel vehicles entered the forest area in Bakungan Village, Loa\nJanan District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan, on 24\nSeptember 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Personnel disembarked from the vehicles one by one. The group\ncomprised members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the\nNational Police (Polri), the prosecutor\u2019s office, the Nusantara Capital\nCity Authority (OIK_N), the Forest Area Stabilisation Agency (BPKH), and\nthe Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP).<\/p>\n<p>They were conducting an enforcement operation within the Bukit\nSoeharto Forest Reserve (Tahura). The targets of this operation were\nbuildings and community activities located within the conservation\nforest area.<\/p>\n<p>Amidst the trees, the team discovered several huts built inside the\nforest area. Surrounding these structures was cleared land, some of\nwhich had been planted and other parts that appeared to be prepared for\nfurther expansion.<\/p>\n<p>Officers moved from one point to another to inspect buildings and\nland situated within the conservation zone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn enforcement action is currently being carried out against illegal\nresidential buildings constructed by individuals who are not from the\nlocal area\u2014specifically not residents of Kutai Kartanegara or Penajam\nPaser Utara Regency\u2014but are occupying this location,\u201d one official\nstated.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, some parties entering the area have been building\nhuts and clearing land for gardening. Such activities are strictly\nprohibited within the conservation forest area.<\/p>\n<p>The enforcement also aims to prevent land clearing that could\nincrease the risk of forest and land fires (karhutla). Clearing areas by\nfelling trees and subsequently converting them into plantations or\nsettlements alters the fundamental condition of the forest.<\/p>\n<p>In the Bukit Soeharto Forest Reserve, this issue does not exist in\nisolation. The enforcement operation is taking place while the\ngovernment is simultaneously managing forest fires within the same\nregion.<\/p>",
