Investigators from the Dompu District Prosecutor\u2019s Office in West\nNusa Tenggara were mobbed by residents whilst conducting a search at the\nTekasire village office in Manggelewa District. A number of files seized\nby the investigators were subsequently snatched by the crowd.<\/p>\n
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon, 13th August. Video\nfootage capturing the moments investigators were surrounded and blocked\nby residents went viral on social media.<\/p>\n
Head of Intelligence at the Dompu Prosecutor\u2019s Office, Dany Curia\nNovitawan, confirmed the search activity carried out by the prosecutor\u2019s\ninvestigators at the Tekasire village office. Dany explained that the\nsearch was related to an alleged corruption case involving the Village\nHead, identified by the initials MZ.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were conducting a search and it is true that a box was seized and\ndamaged,\u201d Dany said when contacted on Friday, 14th August 2026.<\/p>\n
Based on circulating video footage, investigators were allegedly\nintimidated by residents whilst searching a room in the village office.\nResidents also blocked the road in front of the village office by\nburning tyres.<\/p>\n
As a result of the action, traffic on the Bima-Sumbawa highway was\ntemporarily disrupted. Queues of vehicles stretched from both\ndirections.<\/p>\n
After completing the search, the investigators attempted to break\nthrough the crowd. They exited the village office carrying a red box\ncontaining the seized documents.<\/p>\n
A tug-of-war ensued between the residents and the investigators. Due\nto being outnumbered, the box of seized documents was eventually\nsnatched by the residents. The documents were then scattered and torn up\nby the crowd.<\/p>\n
The Dompu Prosecutor\u2019s Office investigators were eventually evacuated\nby police and military personnel who were at the scene. However, the\ndocuments that were to be seized during the search could not be\nsalvaged.<\/p>\n
The mobbing of the investigators was reportedly carried out by\nsupporters of the village head, MZ. They were aggrieved that MZ had been\nnamed a suspect in the alleged corruption case involving the purchase of\nland for a football field in the 2024 fiscal year.<\/p>\n
Dany stated that seven investigators, wearing vests marked with the\nSpecial Anti-Corruption Unit, were present during the search. He\nrevealed that the box seized and damaged by the residents contained\nimportant documents related to the corruption case.<\/p>\n
\u201cThose were documents regarding evidence in the alleged corruption\ncase of procuring the football field land,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Dany stressed that the case, which has already been elevated to the\ninvestigation stage, will continue despite the evidence being seized by\nresidents. According to him, in archive management systems, the creation\nof copies, duplicates, or backups is recommended to secure data in\nanticipation of damage and loss.<\/p>\n
