The Attorney General\u2019s Office (Kejagung) has submitted written\nevidence to the judge and affirmed that all legal procedures in naming\nformer Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Lodewyk\nPusung, as a suspect in the alleged corruption surrounding the Free\nNutritious Meal (MBG) programme have been fulfilled and comply with the\nrules. Prosecutors consider Lodewyk\u2019s pre-trial application to be\nunclear and premature.<\/p>\n
This was conveyed by Kejagung at a pre-trial evidence hearing held at\nthe South Jakarta District Court on Thursday (30\/7\/2026). Lodewyk is\nknown to have filed the pre-trial application. The hearing was presided\nover by single judge Abdul Affandi.<\/p>\n
\u201cFirst, the petitum of the pre-trial application requesting that the\ninvestigation order be declared invalid is not an object of pre-trial\nproceedings. Second, the pre-trial application is unclear and\npremature,\u201d the prosecutor reading the statement said.<\/p>\n
Prosecutors assessed that the actions taken against Lodewyk \u2014 from\ninquiry, questioning, the case expos\u00e9, investigation, examination of\nwitnesses and experts, naming as a suspect, and searches, through to\ndetention and the fulfilment of the suspect\u2019s rights \u2014 were carried out\nprofessionally, objectively, proportionally, and in accordance with\nprevailing laws and regulations.<\/p>\n
\u201cTherefore, the Applicant\u2019s assertion that the Respondent acted\nwithout evidence, violated due process of law, or acted arbitrarily is\nuntrue, unfounded, and should be disregarded,\u201d the prosecutor said.<\/p>\n
Prosecutors considered Lodewyk\u2019s arguments regarding the unfulfilled\nelements of the offence, the absence of his authority, the absence of\nstate losses, and objections to the quality of the evidence. These, they\nsaid, touch on the merits of the case, which fall outside the scope of\npre-trial proceedings.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe object of pre-trial examination is limited to the fulfilment of\nthe formal requirements for naming a suspect, which in this case have\nbeen met through the inquiry, investigation, examination of witnesses\nand experts, examination of the Applicant as a witness, and at least two\nvalid pieces of evidence,\u201d the prosecutor explained.<\/p>\n
For this reason, prosecutors asked the judge to reject the pre-trial\napplication filed by Lodewyk.<\/p>\n
\u201cAccordingly, the naming of the Applicant as a suspect was carried\nout lawfully, professionally, and on legal grounds, so all of the\nApplicant\u2019s arguments should be rejected,\u201d the prosecutor concluded.<\/p>\n
For context, Lodewyk Pusung was named a suspect by the Attorney\nGeneral\u2019s Office in the alleged corruption case surrounding the\ngovernance of the MBG programme. Lodewyk objected and filed a pre-trial\nchallenge against Kejagung\u2019s decision to name him a suspect.<\/p>\n
