Prosecutor rejects Iwik's dossiers<\/p>\n
YOGYAKARTA: Local police will have to work harder to solve the
\nAugust slaying of journalist Fuad Muhammad Syafruddin after the
\nprovincial prosecutors office returned their dossier on Dwi
\nSumaji, the suspected killer.<\/p>\n
The prosecutors office announced yesterday the dossier was
\nincomplete, but did not give details.<\/p>\n
\"The dossier on the suspect Dwi Sumaji was incomplete. So, we
\nreleased a p-18 letter, which says the documents fail to meet
\nrequirements,\" said Soeparman, deputy chief of Yogyakarta
\nprosecutors office.<\/p>\n
Police arrested Dwi Sumaji, or Iwik, a driver for a travel
\nagent on Oct. 21. The manner of arrest was later harshly
\ncriticized because it reportedly violated procedures. The police,
\nfor instance, gave Iwik alcohol drinks until he passed out and
\nlater promised him wealth if he confessed to killing the
\njournalist.<\/p>\n
Fuad, better known as Udin, was a reporter at Yogyakarta's
\nBernas daily. He was attacked by unidentified thugs on Aug. 13 at
\nhis home in Bantul regency, near Yogyakarta.<\/p>\n
Yesterday, Udin's wife, Marsiyem, met for the first time the
\nsuspected killer. Marsiyem, the main witness in the case, had
\nearlier said that Iwik did not match her recollection of the man
\nshe opened the door to the night of the attack. (23\/ste)<\/p>",
