        "content": "<p>Proposed ban on ads resisted<\/p>\n<p>SEMARANG, Central Java: The proposal to scrap cigarette<br>\nadvertisements on TV is meeting strong resistance from the<br>\nAssociation of Indonesian Cigarette Producers.<\/p>\n<p>Achmad Djuffan, chief of the association, said Saturday that<br>\nif it is enforced, the total ban would seriously affect its<br>\nmembers.<\/p>\n<p>\"Although smoking is dangerous to one's health, to their<br>\naddicts cigarettes are a source of inspiration,\" Achmad said..<\/p>\n<p>He was commenting on proposals for a total ban on cigarette<br>\nand liquor ads on television.<\/p>\n<p>Achmad argued that in Islam, the religion of most<br>\nIndonesians, cigarettes and liquor have a different status.<br>\nLiquor, he said, is totally forbidden.
