Hundreds of orphans and the poor received assistance in commemoration\nof the Prophet Muhammad\u2019s birthday on 12 Rabiul Awal at the Taqwa\nLampoih Saka Mosque in Peukan Baro District, Pidie Regency, Aceh, on\nTuesday (25\/8).<\/p>\n
The recipients came from five villages around the mosque: Dua Paya,\nDayah Bubue, Cot Mulu, Tanjung Hagu, and Mee Lampoh Saka. They are\nschool-age children up to 13 years old, mostly from families of farmers,\nrice-field labourers, and construction workers.<\/p>\n
Bukhari Thahir, chairman of the Taqwa Lampoih Saka Mosque Welfare\nBoard (BKM), said the assistance was given as a form of concern for\norphans and an effort to emulate the Prophet\u2019s social character in\nhelping people experiencing economic hardship.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn accordance with the Prophet\u2019s example, we must inherit it.\nCompassion for orphans and the weak is not a disgrace. It turns out that\nsharing and caring are sources of strength for change in achieving\nprosperity among the people,\u201d Bukhari said.<\/p>\n
The assistance consisted of cash amounting to Rp750,000 for each\nchild, as well as a package of sarong cloth that can be used for prayer\nor Quran study activities.<\/p>\n
Bukhari said the cash assistance is expected to help meet the\neducational needs and daily necessities of orphans.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe cash assistance of Rp750,000 for orphans is enough for school\nneeds, buying stationery and several pairs of uniform clothing. Or it is\nsufficient to buy a standard children\u2019s bicycle,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
To ensure the aid was well targeted, the BKM previously coordinated\nwith village heads or geusyik in the surrounding area. Villages were\nasked to submit data on orphans aged 1 to 13 years so that no recipients\nwere missed.<\/p>\n
The aid funds came from donations from entrepreneurs, migrants from\nLampoih Saka living outside the region, local residents, and other\ndonors. The activity is a regular agenda held in conjunction with the\nProphet\u2019s birthday commemoration every 12 Rabiul Awal.<\/p>\n
In addition to the assistance, the Maulid commemoration included a\ncommunal kenduri feast. Each family brought three nasi kulah, rice\nwrapped in banana leaves, to the Taqwa Lampoih Saka Mosque. Thousands of\nresidents and guests then gathered to enjoy the meal together.<\/p>\n
Peukan Baro subdistrict head Iswadi said the Maulid kenduri is a\nhereditary tradition of Acehnese society that is not only related to\nreligious commemoration but also serves as a means of strengthening\nsocial relations.<\/p>\n
According to him, the activity brings together people from various\nbackgrounds and strengthens ties between less affluent residents and\nwealthier members of the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis Maulid kenduri reminds us of the Prophet\u2019s struggle in guiding\nthe people and invites us to love his teachings. Through this activity,\ntogetherness and care among the community also grow stronger,\u201d Iswadi\nsaid.<\/p>\n
