TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The government program to support products produced by local industry is considered ineffective as it does not encourage local consumption.<\/p>\n
The Indonesian Machine and Tool Industry Association (ASIMPI) chairman, Dasep Ahmadi, said that the implementation of the program had not been maximum.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is because there is no cooperation yet among departments,\u201d he said yesterday (16\/7).<\/p>\n
Dasep explained that the presidential decree No.2\/2009 about local products usage would not be effective if it is only released to the market mechanism.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe ask for departments to have more serious discussions about it,\u201d he suggested.<\/p>\n
Dasep said that every department should evaluate their local products to find out their needs and contents.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey have to learn the product's contents. How much of these are made from local product and how much are still imported,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
ASIMPI urged the Coordinating Minister of the Economy to apply aggressive and real steps.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey can invite Trade Department and others to sit together,\u201d said Dasep.<\/p>\n
