        "content": "<p>Project to protect Sumatran tigers<\/p>\n<p>BANDAR LAMPUNG, Lampung: The British Tiger Foundation<br>\nInternational, the Tiger Foundation Asia and Taman Safari<br>\nIndonesia have initiated a project which aims to save Sumatran<br>\ntigers from extinction.<\/p>\n<p>The Tiger Project's initial activities consist of collecting<br>\ndata on the tiger population and their habitat, chief of the<br>\nAgency for Conservation of Natural Resources Harjanto WS said<br>\nyesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The experts in charge have installed sophisticated cameras in<br>\nlocations they believe are the animals' regular paths, Antara<br>\nreported.<\/p>\n<p>Harjanto said encroachment by the human population is the<br>\nbiggest threat to the animals, which are protected by law. The<br>\ntigers will soon become extinct unless they are bred, especially<br>\nin their original habitat.<\/p>\n<p>The agency estimates that the number of Sumatran tigers in the<br>\nWay Kambas National Park is about 20.
