PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk and PT Jakarta Propertindo have commenced the testing and commissioning phase for the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B. The project, valued at Rp 4.1 trillion, has reached 93.07 per cent completion as contractors work to overcome urban construction constraints.

PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk, in collaboration with PT Jakarta
Propertindo (Perseroda), has recently initiated the Testing and
Commissioning (T&C) series for the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B
(Velodrome-Manggarai) railway system.

Iwan Takwin, President Director of Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro),
stated that one of the testing sequences involves track tests along a
3.6-kilometre stretch connecting Velodrome Station to Pramuka Station.
He explained that the T&C stage is being conducted in a detailed
manner to ensure all systems are ready for use. This process includes
systematic and structured testing of all components and
subsystems—ranging from tracks, signalling, and electricity to
communications and operational integration—before commercial operations
begin.

“Every metre of the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B elevated track is our
responsibility to the people of Jakarta who will rely on the LRT daily.
Therefore, this T&C stage must be prepared very thoroughly,” Iwan
said in a statement on Wednesday, 3 June 2026.

Paulus Budi Kartiko, Director of Operations II at Waskita Karya,
noted that Waskita’s involvement in the Phase 1B development extends
beyond mere construction, serving as an opportunity to showcase the
company’s capabilities. “This high-visibility project means that the
quality of work directly impacts our long-term reputation,” said
Paulus.

He further explained that Waskita’s scope of work for the Jakarta LRT
Phase 1B includes the integration of civil works, rails, systems, and
operations. Waskita is continuing to accelerate construction to ensure
the project can be utilised by the public as soon as possible, with the
Rp 4.1 trillion project currently reaching 93.07 per cent
completion.

“During the construction process, the main challenges (urban
constraints) we face as a contractor include Jakarta’s heavy traffic and
limited workspace,” Paulus added. “As a solution, we are optimising
working hours at night, which demands focus and innovation in safety and
work systems. We view this as a constraint to be managed, not
avoided.”

Regarding the track testing, Paulus noted that one of the areas
traversed includes the crossing above the active Wiyoto-Wiyono Toll
Road, from kilometre 1+700 to 2+100. To ensure that traffic on the toll
road remains undisturbed during the construction period, Waskita has
utilised an innovative balance cantilever method with a span of 120
metres.
",
