Probe against shoe company<\/p>\n
BOGOR (JP): The Bogor Office of the Ministry of Manpower has
\npromised to investigate an incident at PT Truba Factory Shoes in
\nwhich a female worker had a miscarriage after she was forced to
\nstand in the sun as a punishment.<\/p>\n
\"We cannot tolerate such punishments. It's not ethical,\"
\nsaid Oon Suwono, one of the office's officials, as quoted by
\nBusiness Indonesia.<\/p>\n
He said the company should have issued either written or oral
\nwarnings to workers who had violated the factory's regulations,
\ninstead of ordering them to stand in the sun.<\/p>\n
\"We will soon summon the company's executives for questioning
\nin connection with the incident,\" Oon said.<\/p>\n
Earlier this weekend the female worker, Rosidah, 29, filed a
\ncomplaint with police.<\/p>\n
Rosidah said she and some other female employees had been
\nordered to stand in the sun as a punishment for not coming in
\nfor work several days earlier.<\/p>\n
Rosidah, a mother of three, was two months pregnant when the
\ncompany handed down the punishment. She fainted after standing in
\nthe sun for only 15 minutes. A doctor who examined her later told
