Pro status quo<\/p>\n
The pro status quo group wants to continue its established way
\nof life. It does not want it replaced.<\/p>\n
The well-established status applies only to the people who
\nenjoyed the boons of the New Order regime. For the greater public
\nit is a symbol of injustice that must be eradicated. Changes must
\ntake place in keeping with the winds of reform in this country.<\/p>\n
The status quo has spread to various groups of the
\nlegislature, the executive, the judiciary and other groups. As a
\nresult of the behavior of some of these, that is contrary to the
\ndirection the reform has taken, they are all now seen as
\nantireform.<\/p>\n
If there is suspicion about the executive group being a nest
\nof pro status quo people, all ministers will be considered as
\nstubborn in defending the continuation of their established life.<\/p>\n
The majority of the people who long for improvement of their
\nlife always try to stop the actions of the pro status quo people.
\nThey and other reform groups always close ranks, maintain their
\nunity and strengthen their stand to jointly wipe out the status
\nquo people in the community.<\/p>\n
This country has been hit by a crisis that has been going on
\nfor a considerable time, including a crisis of trust, so that
\nwhatever the government does, the people remain distrustful of
\nits apparatus. For example, the government apparatus which should
\nsafeguard the social safety network program had the nerve to
\nexpropriate the rights of the poor and the needy. It is really
\ntoo much.<\/p>\n
It is only understandable that in order to improve the life of
\nthe increasing poor, many political parties, in cooperation with
\nstudent movements throughout Indonesia, are determined to fight
\nofficials who are still imbued with the status quo mentality.<\/p>\n
