The death of Private First Class (Praka) Farizal Rhomadhon during a\nUnited Nations peacekeeping mission in Lebanon has left profound grief.\nThe incident occurred while the deceased was performing Isha prayer in\nthe duty area of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL)\ntroops, or at the guard post near Adchit Al Qusayr, on Sunday\n(29\/3\/2026) local time.<\/p>\n
Brigade Infantry Commander (Danbrigif) 25\/Siwah, Colonel Inf Dimar\nBahtera, revealed this chronology during a visit to the mourning house\nin Ledok, Lendah, Kulon Progo, DIY. \u201cSo (the incident happened -Red)\nduring Isha prayer, the individual was performing prayer and there a\nmortar artillery shell fell beside the mosque,\u201d said Colonel Inf Dimar\nwhen interviewed at the mourning house in Ledok, Lendah, Kulon Progo,\nDIY, on Tuesday (31\/3\/2026).<\/p>\n
The mortar attack is suspected to have come from Israeli troops\ninvolved in the escalation of conflict in the area. The explosion\noccurred very close to the worship location and caused Farizal to be\nkilled on the spot.<\/p>\n
After the incident, the deceased\u2019s body was evacuated to the East\nSector Headquarters (HQ) of UNIFIL. At that location, funeral prayers\nand tributes from fellow squad members will be conducted.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is then planned to be evacuated to a hospital in Beirut, if I am\nnot mistaken. There, a standard autopsy will be carried out at a more\ncomplete hospital,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The autopsy process will also be conducted by the UN side before the\nrepatriation stage to Indonesia. \u201cWell, that (autopsy) might only be\npossible tomorrow if the conditions are conducive. After that, the\nrepatriation process will be carried out by the UN,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe repatriation stage has several stages that must be done by the\nUN, documents. After that, once the mechanism is sufficient, it will\nthen be flown to Indonesia,\u201d Dimar added.<\/p>\n
The planned repatriation of the body will go through transit\ncountries such as Egypt or Jordan, considering the limitations of\ncivilian flights due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East region.\nUpon arrival in Indonesia, the deceased will receive military honours\nbefore being buried in his hometown in Kulon Progo, in accordance with\nthe family\u2019s wishes. However, it is not yet certain when the body will\narrive.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe burial will be here (Kulon Progo Public Cemetery -Red) in\naccordance with the family\u2019s request. The state honours include a honour\nceremony, military funeral honours. And I plan to lead the ceremony. I\nam directly assigned by the leadership, from the President, from the TNI\nCommander, from the Army Chief,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Shots from tanks of the Israeli occupying forces (IDF) were cited as\nthe cause of the death of the TNI soldier, a member of the UN\npeacekeeping force in Lebanon. This was revealed from the UN\u2019s\npreliminary investigation.<\/p>\n
The Times of Israel reported that the peacekeeper was killed on\nSunday night when an unidentified projectile \u201cexploded at a UNIFIL\nposition near Adchit al Qusayr.\u201d<\/p>\n
