        "content": "<p>Prisoners still on hunger strike<\/p>\n<p>DILI, East Timor (JP): Fourteen political prisoners and<br>\ndetainees entered the fourth day of their hunger strike on<br>\nThursday at the Becora jail here.<\/p>\n<p>The fourteen, who began the strike on Aug. 31, are among the<br>\n22 political prisoners and detainees held here.<\/p>\n<p>They are demanding the release of resistance leader Jos<br>\nAlexandre \"Xanana\" Gusmao who is serving a 20-year sentence in<br>\nCipinang prison, Jakarta. The head of the prison, Mayun Mataram<br>\nsaid doctors were monitoring the strikers' health.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the prisoners on strike were initially given infusions<br>\n\"but on the third day only three still needed infusions, namely<br>\nSalvador, Mariano and Agostinho,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>Prison doctor Bernard Simatupang said the monitoring began on<br>\nthe first day of the strike.
