President's security get new chief<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Brig. Gen. Siradjuddin Paiyoi took charge
\nyesterday of the military unit most responsible for the safety of
\nPresident Soeharto.<\/p>\n
Siradjuddin became the commandant of the Presidential Security
\nForce and takes over from Brig. Gen. Jasril Jacub. He was
\nformerly deputy commandant of the force while Jasril was recently
\npromoted to the President's Military Secretary.<\/p>\n
The unit, known by its Indonesian acronym Paspampres, is also
\nresponsible for the safety of the first family, the vice
\npresident and his family, and all visiting state guests.<\/p>\n
The commandant is responsible to Armed Forces Chief Gen.
\nFeisal Tanjung, who presided at the hand-over ceremony yesterday
\nwhich coincided with its 29th anniversary.<\/p>\n
Feisal also introduced a new motto for the force: Setia
\nWaspada (Loyal and Alert), according to Antara.<\/p>\n
A 1965 graduate of the National Military Academy, 52-year old
\nSirajuddin virtually spent all of his Army career in the Military
\nPolice. His leadership experience includes stints as deputy
\ncommandant of the Military Police in Bukit Barisan Command and as
\ncommandant of the Military Police in Iskandar Muda Command.<\/p>\n
Present at the ceremony yesterday were all his predecessors,
\nincluding Norman Sasono, Darsa Sumamihardja, Moenawar, Sardjono
