President's flu worsened by heavy schedule: Wimar<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): President Abdurrahman Wahid was treated for
\ninfluenza on Tuesday and his spokesman said that the President's
\nheavy schedule has made his symptoms worse.<\/p>\n
\"Actually the signs (of flu) were evident even before he left
\nfor Qatar on Nov. 12 and his heavy schedule made his flu worse,\"
\nPresidential spokesman Wimar Witoelar told The Jakarta Post in a
\ntelephone interview.<\/p>\n
Wimar was referring to Abdurrahman's overseas trip to Qatar
\nand Brunei to attend the Organization of the Islamic Conference
\nsummit and the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation summit
\nrespectively.<\/p>\n
\"So, his doctors have advised him to slow down because we want
\nto be sure he will be well enough to attend ASEAN (Association of
\nSoutheast Asian Nations) informal summit in Singapore on Nov.
\n23,\" Wimar said, adding that \"the President has been receiving
\nguests selectively\".<\/p>\n
Abdurrahman is scheduled to leave Jakarta for the summit on
\nThursday and Wimar said Tuesday that \"as of now there has been no
\nchange in the plan\".<\/p>\n
He said Abdurrahman underwent a series of tests on Tuesday
\nincluding \"a chest x-ray using portable equipment which was
\nborrowed from the Gatot Subroto army hospital\".<\/p>\n
\"He is coughing slightly but apart from that he is fine,\"
\nWimar said.<\/p>\n
Earlier in the day, chief of the presidential medical team
\nUmar Wahid admitted that Abdurrahman's condition had not improved
\n\"as had been expected\".<\/p>\n
\"Yesterday (Monday), his condition was not getting better so
\nhe (Abdurrahman) has been advised to rest,\" Umar, who is also
\nAbdurrahman's younger brother, told journalists at the
